Christina Lavon...

is known as “Christina Lavon Robertson”. She resides in Denison, Texas with her daughter. As a child, her interest in drawing and painting sprouted when she was introduced to the works of her great grandmother’s paintings and sculptures. Christina was later voted “Most Artistic” and awarded “Best All Around Artist” of her graduating class at Pottsboro High School in Pottsboro, TX. After her great grandmother’s death in 1999, Christina began painting upon commission for family and friends. Currently, she is going to school at The Art Institute of Dallas to receive an Associates of Fine Arts Degree. Over the years, her teachers, family, various artists, friends, and her great grandmother’s blessings has added inspiration to her growing imagination and continue to do so.

Christina feels her artistic career was inevitable, as she has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Her third grade teacher told her parents she would most likely become a "fashion designer" because she was always caught designing new styles. "I feel like it’s not really a choice," she comments. "It’s just something I HAVE to do- to design and create!!  It is a privilege to create something and be able to share it with others."

"For me, art is like a lot of things in life, there’s always something new to learn so hopefully my work is always evolving, changing, growing.  It's like my own addiction- to design! Personally, I just enjoy being creative and coming up with new ideas. I view the world and everything in it as work of art."

Christina paints whenever she can, and nearly always with music playing and a glass of wine. She’s not always in a creative mood when she sits down to work, but finds that if she sticks with it she soon slips into the right frame of mind. She feels that her work communicates her appreciation of meaning to life and nature’s beauty with ability to capture it and frame it in a creative setting.

Artist Statement:

"My work is not always cheerful and colorful. It is strongly defined by the subject obviously reflecting my emotions or imagination during that time of painting process. Although, I do tackle several styles and cheerful themes in a random pattern to keep me on my toes. I paint in oil, charcoal, acrylic, casein, watercolor, colored pencil, and combination. I hardly ever start with a sketch, I just sit in front of a blank canvas, wet the brush, and start painting inspired by whatever is going on in my life during that time, either from the inside or external universe… meditation, memories, observation, or it could be just the plain need to DESIGN. I enjoy making a mess while I do it! At times, I only use my finger tips!

Usually, I like to paint pretty fast before I loose my inspiration, preferably in one session. And, of course I love a glass of wine while I begin. But most of all... I enjoy painting custom commissions. I love meeting a stranger and combine their imagination with my own and create an oustanding masterpiece!  I like to dip my paintbrush into their heart and soul. It is not my goal to invent something new or come up with complicated techniques. There's nothing new under the sun... I’m just ME because that’s all I can be. What my art looks like, compares too or falls into what kind of category is

for the critics and the clients to define.

My job is to be myself, just paint,

and have tons of fun doing it!!!!"
